CT Scan

A CT scan, or computed tomography scan, is a medical imaging procedure that uses X-rays to create detailed images of the inside of the body. The images produced by a CT scan are much clearer than those produced by traditional X-rays, and they can be used to diagnose a wide variety of conditions, including tumors, heart disease, and stroke.

CT scans are performed in a large machine that resembles a doughnut. The patient lies on a table that slides through the machine, and the X-ray beam rotates around the patient. The images are then displayed on a computer monitor and can be viewed by a doctor.

CT scans are a safe and effective imaging tool, but they do expose the patient to radiation. The amount of radiation exposure is usually very low, but it is important to talk to your doctor about the risks and benefits of having a CT scan.
